Location
The chalet is in the ski station of Ste Foy at an altitude of 1550 metres, just 100 metres from the skilift. The main village of Ste Foy is 3km down the hill. All the facilities described below are in the ski station and nearby to the chalet and apartment.
Lift passes
The cost of a lift pass is around half of the cost of the neighbouring large resorts. For the 2007/2008 season it is just 126 Euros (around UK£90) for 6 days. It allows you to ski half price days in each of the neighbouring resorts of Val d'Isére, Tignes, La Rosiere, La Plagne and Les Arcs, via Villaroger.
Children and Beginners
This is a very suitable base for a holiday with children, with good nursery slopes for complete beginners just 40 metres from the chalet. Ski passes for the under sevens are free. There are two new 'magic carpet' lifts for beginners on the nursery slopes which do not require a lift pass (see pictures below). There are some gentle green and blue runs which will enable learners to access the highest slopes of the resort. There are usually several toboggans available in the chalet to try out on the sledging slope which is safely separated from the ski slopes. There is a choice of two creches but only one takes children under three years of age. We can also put you in touch with British nannies if required. The chalet and apartment have cots and a high chair.

Ski school
There is a small, friendly ESF ski school. The small size of the resort means that group sizes are low and all instructors are English speaking. We have had universally good reports of the ESF instruction. New this year is a transceiver search area where you can practice your searches.
Ski and snowboard hire.
There are four good hire shops in the resort, just 100m from the chalet, who should be able to cater for all your needs and who speak English. If you mention Chalet Morion in Zig Zags, one of the hire shops, you will receive a discount on your rentals.Nearby resorts
Val d'Isere and Tignes are a mere 20 minute drive away whist Villaroger (for Les Arcs and La Plagne) is 10 minutes. 20 minutes away is the village of Seez which is in the La Rosiere lift system and thus linked to La Thuile in Italy.Non-skiers
There are facilities for cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing (either guided or using specific paths that have been marked away from the pistes), dog sledding, tobogganing, ice climbing, an indoor climbing wall, ice fishing and ice skating nearby. Why not try renting a ski-bike - its easy to learn and very safe. Take a taster helicopter flight. Or just relax on the chalet's south and west facing terrace. There is a choice for two spa centres offering heated indoor swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and a variety of treatments.Eating In
There is a small but well stocked supermarket in the ski resort selling all the essentials which is open seven days a week. It also has a cashpoint. Next door is a boulangerie/patisserie. There is also a newsagent which stocks English newspapers. The nearest large supermarket for your self-catering needs is the Super-U at the bottom of the hill at Bourg St Maurice. There are also a variety of small shops in the main village of Ste Foy plus a regular small market.Eating Out
There are two restaurants and a small cafe on the pistes and five restaurants serving modern or traditional Savoyard food in the resort. They all have bars if you just want a drink and there is live music. There are more bars, restaurants and cafes in the main village of Ste Foy and other neighbouring villages. It's worth booking Chez Merie, in Le Miroir, for a good meal out - it has been described by reviewers as one of the best restaurants in the Alps.
